StigmApp Data Protection
We attach great importance to the protection of your personal data. We therefore strictly adhere to the legal provisions governing the admissibility of the handling of personal data and have taken appropriate precautions. The following declaration gives you an overview of how we guarantee this protection and what kind of data we collect for what purpose.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which went into effect 25 May 2018, creates consistent data protection rules across Europe. It applies to all companies that process personal data about individuals in the EU, regardless of where the company is based. Processing is defined broadly and refers to anything related to personal data, including how a company handles and manages data, such as collecting, storing, using and destroying data.
Scope of the processing of personal data
We only collect and use our users’ personal data of insofar as this is necessary to provide a functional application as well as our contents and services. The collection and use of our users’ personal data takes place regularly and only with the user's consent. An exception applies in those cases where prior consent cannot be obtained for real reasons and the processing of the data is permitted by law. We will treat all of your data as strictly confidential, in accordance with statutory provisions
How StigmApp Works
Use of the StigmApp requires installation of and consent to the Terms of Use and to the Data Privacy Statement for this app.
Data Collection
Processing, and Use in StigmApp only stores personal data relating to users of its StigmApp if consent for this has been given. StigmApp application requires the user’s consent to the use of the data the user enters in the application, in order to create conclusions to support academic research. Apart from the data voluntarily entered by the user of the application, no other information related to the device, location and connection is collected, resulting in the inability to identify the natural person. In case the user wishes to delete his/her account, all the data he/she has entered so far are destroyed. StigmApp uses this information to measure app activity, to produce app statistics, and to improve the services and information provided via the app. Collected data from the pain management module will be used to create statistics and infographics on how pain affects people’s lives. These infographics will be further promoted to various sources, e.g. the different users of the StigmApp, etc. These statistics and infographics are completely anonymous and can be downloaded by the users of the app. To this end, the produced statistics and infographics could be forwarded to other sources by either the StigmApp or its end users. These data can be used indicatively for research, educational or marketing purposes in the pain domain by the intended users.

Protection of the Stored Data
Our App uses technical and organizational security measures to protect the personal data that you provided from manipulation, loss, destruction or from being accessed by unauthorized persons. The security measures are continually improved and adapted in accordance with the latest technology. Data provided that is unencrypted could potentially be viewed by third parties. For this reason, we would like to point out that, with regard to data transmission over the Internet (e.g. by email), secure transfer cannot be guaranteed. Sensitive data should therefore either not be transmitted at all or only via a secure connection (SSL). If you access pages and files and are then asked to enter personal data, please note that the transmission of such data via the Internet may not be secure and it may therefore be accessed and manipulated by unauthorized persons.
StigmApp Content
The content hosted in the application is owned by the user who created it and who is solely responsible for it. Content that contains sexual references, or offends religious beliefs, or incites illegal acts is deemed unwanted and the administrators of the application will take appropriate action to remove it. If our products are misused in any way, we will take appropriate action - for example, by offering help, removing content, blocking certain features, deactivating an account, or contacting law enforcement. In the event that the user or the administrator of the application deactivates the user's account, the announcements, comments, and other feedback of the user to his/her own and other users' content cease to be available and visible through the application to the other users. The content (messages, images, video) that has been attached to the user's personal communication with other users of the application, by him/her and others, ceases to be available to the him/her and other users.
Final Provisions
StigmApp reserves the right to amend or supplement this data privacy statement with future effect at any time, as far as the changes made in the interest of the StigmApp are reasonable for the user. This is, in particular, the case when changes are not essentially associated with any disadvantages for the user, e.g. in the event of changes to contact information, the addition of more services, or similar. We will always make a new app available as an update or new version.
